astor B ullock, Jr. is the son of a Baptist Minister. He was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Bullock moved to Detroit, Michigan after completing his early education in the Boston Public Schools and an honorable tour of duty in the United States Army.
He studied at Highland Park Community College and Wayne State University leading toward an
Associate of Arts and a Bachelor of Science Degree respectively. He continued his education
and preparation for ministry at Andover Newton Theological School in Massachusetts and Drew
University in New Jersey from which he now holds a Master and Doctorate of Ministry Degrees.
He was called and ordained to the gospel ministry while a member of the New Mount Vernon
Baptist Church of Ferndale, Michigan. Dr. Bullock has pastored in Massachusetts and
since 1982, serves as Pastor of the Bethany Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan.
His involvement in the church and community includes President of the Joan Ann Bullock Academy,
Past President of the Michigan Progressive Baptist Convention (MPBC), Past President of South
East Area ABC Ministers Council (ABC), President of SPEAR Community Development Corporation,
Board of Directors of the Red Cross of Southeastern Michigan, Past President of West Detroit
Interfaith Community Organization (WDIFCO), Board of Directors of New Detroit Inc., Board of
Directors of Detroit Medical Center, Past President of the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit
and Vicinity, Inc., and Executive Secretary of the Michigan Progressive Baptist Convention.
